Minnesota sports fans know Marney Gellner. She’s made quite a name for herself by staying very busy. Not only is she the sideline reporter for the Minnesota Twins and the Timberwolves, but she also handles play-by-play duties for the Minnesota Lynx. Yet despite all of her success, including a groundbreaking moment – becoming the first female to do play-by-play for a Minnesota Twins game during spring training – she doesn’t take herself or her accomplishments too seriously. When she got together with Steve to chat during “Coffee with Cool People”,presented by Caribou Coffee, she was quick to downplay her accomplishments. Such is the sign of a true pro. They are less in love with the accolades, and more enamored with the work they enjoy.
That grounded approach serves her well in her personal life. A mother of two, Marney makes the most of her time with her kids. She offsets her busy schedule by making the most of the time she has with her family. She says that when she’s home, she’s fully home. Present. There. A lesson to be learned for us all.
Sit back, pour yourself a cup of coffee and listen in on a conversation about balancing a busy career and a busy home.
