Joey Chestnut is a household name. Every Fourth of July, you’ll see him on national TV in New York, eating hot dogs in a frantic matter. In 2019, Chestnut won his 12th Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, eating 71 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He beat the runner-up by an impressive 21 hot dogs.
Joey is in Minnesota to take on another food: ribs. On Saturday, July 27th, he will be at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake to see if he can break his own record of eating the most rib meat in 12 minutes. His current record is 13.76 pounds.
Joey stopped by the Twin Cities Live studio to tell Steve and Elizabeth how he prepares for a competition and what happens after.
The Great Midwest Rib Fest World Rib Eating Championship takes place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. Admission is free.
