Winning an Olympic gold medal and beating cancer are two unbelievable feats. Twin Cities Live reporter Kelli Hanson got to hang out with a man who has done both. Retired American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton is in town celebrating the achievements of Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Twin Cities – a fundraiser for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.
In 2017, the Foundation provided funding for a research project that will the pave the way for therapies for children with cancer. The Twin Cities team chose the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital as their charity of choice to share in the proceeds raised by their Sk8 to Eliminate Cancer Fundraiser.
