Elizabeth and Steve talked with the official winemaker at Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery about a few of their selections.
The wine tastes and smells like fresh pineapple, tropical flowers and Peach Jolly Rancher. There are also suggestions of lemon zest. Imagine walking down the beaches of Hawaii and taking in a deep breath of tropical flowers on a warm evening
In the glass the wine has aromas of peaches and pears, tropical notes of pineapple and mango, and wonderful floral nuances of apple blossom. In the mouth the wine is a delight, fresh, crisp, clean and intense with an edge of acidity balanced nicely against a slightly rounded and clean finish.
On the nose, aromas burst of dark chocolate and plum. On the palate, boysenberry, smoked meat and grilled fennel with hints of white pepper.
The nose is enticing with black cherry and cranberry compote along with smoky bacon. On the entry, the wine is rich and velvety with mouth filling dark fruits and a long finish.
The hosts also sampled from a barrel of Itasca Juice.
