Money Decisions During a Pandemic

A national best-selling author, Youtube personality, and speaker, Anthony ONeal’s goal is to encourage young adults to make smart money decisions.  According to CNN Bussiness around 30 million Americans have filed for unemployment since mid March.  Yet, 4 million college students will graduate this year looking to enter the workforce.  Anthony has tips on how they can face the uncertainty during a pandemic.

  • Focus on what you can control
    • There are a lot of things you can’t control. Focus on what you CAN control.
    • Write down your goals. You need a vision for your life.
    • Update your resume! The job market looks different, but you still need a resume.
  • Apply for a job (any job)
    • It’s not the time to be picky.
    • You need an income.
    • You might have to step outside of your career field to earn cash.
    • Keep searching for something in your field while you work.
    • There ARE industries hiring:
      • Virtual communication companies- Zoom, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
      • Online learning- with kids at home, this is booming.
      • Grocery stores.
      • Food delivery services.
      • Delivery jobs.  
  • Stay at home
  • Don’t take on debt
    • Adding debt adds stress.
    • If you don’t have a job and have student loans, press pause on paying your debt.
      • Cover your four walls—food, shelter, transportation and utilities.
      • Take advantage of grace periods if you need them.
    • If you HAVE a job, attack your debt!
