William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is the classic and tragic story of two star crossed lovers. The passionate story returns to the Guthrie Theater’s Wurtele Thrust Stage on September 9th and runs through October 28th. It’s recommended that children be at least twelve years old to see this show.
This is Director Joseph Haj’s first time directing this show. However, he has been in “Romeo and Juliet” three times. He played Mercutio in 1987.
The show has it all. Love, action, drama. In this particular version, it’s Dr. Kara Wooten who is the fight director. She’s in what is normally a male dominated field. She has quite the resume. She’s an actor, fight director and she has also taught at a number of universities. Dr. Wooten gives Twin Cities Live Reporter Emily Engberg a chance to learn some moves with prop swords and daggers. Emily says it’s quite impressive to see what she is able to teach people. After all, it needs to seem as real as possible.
